Second Meeting

9th October 2006, Monday

The opening speech was given by Sunnie Luthra, President, NSWF. The issues discussed in the meeting were:
1. The IBM Project:As was discussed in the last meeting, the IBM Project entails the establishment of a new lab on NSIT premises in a joint venture with IBM; this requires an expenditure of Rs. 5.5 lakhs, which is to be provided by appropriate college authorities. IBM proposes:
- a LINUX based, advanced lab facility.
- to train 3 faculty members.
- to train 20 students.
The amendments proposed to this agreement during the meeting were:
-an increase in the number of student trainees.
-a provision for special workshops and seminars on a periodic basis for students.
A modified proposal is to be formulated in coordination with Prof. V.K.Kapoor and Mr. Khushil Saini.

2. A.I.E.S.E.C. Proposal
NSWF plans to sign an agreement with AIESEC to facilitate internships, industrial training and exchange programs for students of NSIT; AIESEC also hosts youth festivals and other social programs which shall provide valuable exposure to students. The annual charges to avail the facilities provided by AIESEC is normally Rs. 2700(membership fee) + Rs. 5000(security); the security fee shall be discounted for the students of NSIT, them paying only the membership fee.

3. Photostat Facility
The present photostat facility available in the college is inadequate and is unable to serve the needs of students. A new photostat facility is thus required with extended timings. For the fulfillment of the above plan, a meeting is planned with Prof. Aditya Kumar, Warden, BH-1.

4. Canteen & Nescafe Stall
The Nescafe Stall suffers from the problem of inadequate power supply. Steps needed to rectify the problem ought to be taken, and constant power be made available as soon as possible.

5. Library (Reading Room)A Reading Room, in the Library, where students may read their own books has been a long-standing requirement. The Library Committee has been assigned the job of starting one.
