NSWF members who are responsible for the membership drive, please publicise the NSWF sub-forum at www.students-portal.com in the Societies forum at the site. All general student members of NSWF should be members of that site and can post their views there.

Fourth Meeting

26th October

The issues discussed in the meeting were:

1. The IBM Project
The IBM Proposal is currently under the scrutiny of the college administration. A meeting of the Board of Governors (BOG) is scheduled for 4th November, where the proposal shall be analyzed by the BOG Members and the final decision shall be reached.

2. Library and Reading Room
The proposal for a reading room in the library has been finalized. The room adjoining the library (best suits the purpose), falls under the jurisdiction of the DSW. A formal application shall be forwarded to Prof. A.P.Mittal, Dean Students Welfare, for the setup of the reading room.

The 3 computers already installed in the library have been out of order for a while. Antivirus and Firewall softwares need to be installed on them. Akshay Madan, Mayank Lodha, Anubhav and Kshitij have been assigned the above mentioned task.

3. Institute Research & Development
Institute Research & Development (IRD), a new department is being established under NSWF. IRD, which will be a collaboration of all technical societies functioning in NSIT, will help students acquire projects of all types. Each & every student can benefit from the organization as IRD will have a large data base of projects. The duty of formulating and supervising the functioning of the organization has been given to Raunak Sinha.

4. Radico
Radico is an organization venturing into the field of distilleries. The organization wants to publicize itself in our college. Posters and Banners will be put up in the canteen. NSWF has approved this collaboration and shall forward the proposal to the college administration.

5. Membership Drive
The Membership Drive will be continued as per schedule. The ID-Cards shall be issued to all the members of NSWF, by Ruchir Sonkar and Rohit.

Third Meeting

16th October 2006

The topics discussed were:

1. The IBM Project
Praveen Jha updated those present with the advances in the IBM Project. The amendments to the agreement that were proposed in the last meeting have been executed and further negotiations are being carried out with the concerned official at IBM. The project still awaits the approval of our Director, Dr. Ranjeet Singh.

2. The A.I.E.S.E.C. Proposal
The agreement for collaboration between NSWF and AIESEC has been signed. An Information Seminar on AIESEC, in November, is being planned. It will present students with gain further insight on AIESEC activities. The charge of the Information Seminar has been given to Raunak Sinha, Niharika Popali, Sonali, Pooja and Ayush.

3. Library/Reading RoomThe update on the Reading Room shall be available in the next meeting. Currently other issues concerning the Library are: lack of Internet facility in the computers available in the newspaper room and extension in the timings of the library.

4. Photostat FacilityThe currently operating photostat rates have been reduced to 60p per page for up to 50 pages and 50p per page for over 50 pages. During examinations, the rate shall be 50p per page exclusively. A notice furnishing the above information will be displayed on the notice boards soon.

5. Canteen & Nescafe Stall
The insufficient power supply problem at the Nescafe stall has been solved. Further, six new electricity poles will be set up to ensure proper power supply for the stall. As the only distributor for Nescafe Snacks in Delhi is in Connaught Place, the transportation problem has hindered the availability of snacks at the stall. A security guard is also required at the stall at night.

A bank statement shall be released by the NSWF treasurer, mentioning all the transactions of the account made till date.

Decisions Pending: AIESEC Information Seminar, TIME Seminar, security guard for the Nescafe Stall.

Second Meeting

9th October 2006, Monday

The opening speech was given by Sunnie Luthra, President, NSWF. The issues discussed in the meeting were:
1. The IBM Project:As was discussed in the last meeting, the IBM Project entails the establishment of a new lab on NSIT premises in a joint venture with IBM; this requires an expenditure of Rs. 5.5 lakhs, which is to be provided by appropriate college authorities. IBM proposes:
- a LINUX based, advanced lab facility.
- to train 3 faculty members.
- to train 20 students.
The amendments proposed to this agreement during the meeting were:
-an increase in the number of student trainees.
-a provision for special workshops and seminars on a periodic basis for students.
A modified proposal is to be formulated in coordination with Prof. V.K.Kapoor and Mr. Khushil Saini.

2. A.I.E.S.E.C. Proposal
NSWF plans to sign an agreement with AIESEC to facilitate internships, industrial training and exchange programs for students of NSIT; AIESEC also hosts youth festivals and other social programs which shall provide valuable exposure to students. The annual charges to avail the facilities provided by AIESEC is normally Rs. 2700(membership fee) + Rs. 5000(security); the security fee shall be discounted for the students of NSIT, them paying only the membership fee.

3. Photostat Facility
The present photostat facility available in the college is inadequate and is unable to serve the needs of students. A new photostat facility is thus required with extended timings. For the fulfillment of the above plan, a meeting is planned with Prof. Aditya Kumar, Warden, BH-1.

4. Canteen & Nescafe Stall
The Nescafe Stall suffers from the problem of inadequate power supply. Steps needed to rectify the problem ought to be taken, and constant power be made available as soon as possible.

5. Library (Reading Room)A Reading Room, in the Library, where students may read their own books has been a long-standing requirement. The Library Committee has been assigned the job of starting one.

October 5, 2006

The Meeting commenced with an opening speech by Sunnie Luthra, President, NSWF and was attended by all the members of the core committee.The Topics discussed were:
1. The IBM Lab Project: In collaboration with IBM, NSWF looks forward to setting up an Advanced Research Lab at NSIT. The Project is being handled by Praveen Jha, Saurabh Dabra and Abhinav Agarawal.
2. Canteen & Nescafe Stall Maintenance: The Canteen & Nescafe stall need constant supervision and maintenance, the responsibility of which has been given to Abhishek Bansal and Sachin.
3. A.I.S.E.C. Proposal:A.I.S.E.C. is an international organization that provides support to students for Internships and Training. The task of formulating an MoU with A.I.S.E.C. has been allotted to Abhishek Dhama, Kshitij and Nishant.
4. UN Earth Charter: The UN Earth Charter has been adopted by the NSWF in its memorandum. NSWF looks forward to actively participating in the activities that are entailed in the Charter, and thus provide the students of NSIT an opportunity to interact with an enterprise of international status and fame. This work shall be supervised by Sunnie Luthra and Piyush Narain.
5. Grievances Cell: A Grievances Cell which will deal with students' day-to-day problems has been established under the NSWF. This Cell is being headed by Sachin Meena.6. Membership Drive:The Membership drive for students shall commence soon and will be supervised by Raunak Sinha, Abhishek Bansal, Shubhi and Garima.
7. Library Committee: A committee has been set up to look after the functioning of the Library which includes the acquisition of new books, maintaining the internet facility there etc. The members of the committee are Neeraj Gehlot, Chawla and Ayush.
8. PR Team: The PR Team for the NSWF was formulated; it shall handle official documentation and will also be responsible for the forum's publicity. The team consists of Madhav Krishna, Raunak Sinha and Niharika.
